  1. I'm surprised that Stewart wasn't in uniform, because he was a real bird colonel in the Army Air Corps. He later rose to brigadier general in the USAF.

  2. I stand slightly corrected. Stewart was a major at the time this was filmed. He made bird colonel in 1945. He made brigadier in 1959, and was promoted after his 1968 USAF retirement to major general in 1985.
