  1. My brother uses some non-rolling-release distro, and is a beginner, and then had some problems with latex, because the online packages were for the current version and the local version was too old and couldn't be upgraded. I see no reason, why you wouldn't want a rolling release distro.

  3. I prefer xbps over pacman. Most output is visually more pleasing and I know how to do more stuff, which might be difficult on arch, especially because I can install xtools with xbps.
