For some time I preferred permissive licenses because I hate the idea of intellectual property in general and want everyone to be able to use anything they want, but recently I started to prefer copyleft, since I hate the idea of intellectual property in general. As long as the government enforced copyright systems exist, it seems useful to use them for our own purposes. They are technically free after all. And if companies encounter more and more copyleft software, they might start to realize the idea of copyright was a mistake, and start to lobby on my side to stop copyright altogether, at least when only forbidding copyleft failed, which they will try anyway. And using permissive licenses is just bein an useful idiot to these huge companies.
