  1. 3:00 I think, the best argument for command line is , that you can just copy-paste commands instead of clicking through GUis. Especially if you don't know, what you are doing, you can just google the command, or a coworker can send you the command, and then you paste it and it probably does, what you want. Maybe you have to insert the correct filenames or something. Or especially when using AI, you can just ask the AI "how to resize all your images in one folder and subfolders to a maximum of 1920×1080 without changing the aspect ratio in the fish shell", and it probably gives you a command, which just works.

  4.  @sophiophile  I never used xargs except when copying scripts from somewhere. I think, xargs allows interpreting the input pipe as arguments or something. But it's always possible to do this in a nested way. Example: gedit (grep -l "struct Point" (find src/ -name "*.rs")) (that's fish shell; I think in bash you would get the same behavior by adding a dollar sign before the opening brackets)

  5. 34:40 Maybe a text editor should have a keybinding tutorial. A fixed number of key bindings will always be shown in the lower right bar. And once you used that command maybe 10 times, it will disappear from the info, since then you probably know it. Or it's more like having vocabulary cards, and it comes back once in a while, but it always takes a bit longer until it comes back each time.

  7. ​ @Karurosagu  Sure. Being able to copy-paste scripts is an argument, why command line might be even more beginner friendly, especially with the raise of AI.
