18:50 I'd probably say something along the lines "Of course there needs to be some degree of teamwork, but normally I prefer to work by myself and don't interact with others more than necessary"

6:25 Being able to work when it counts also has some value. Even if you basically don't do anything, if you CAN do something when there is no time and nobody to do it, that might be worth it.

14:40 When we had to plan tasks at some job in advance, I always underestimated the effort and only completed around half of the tasks most of the time, and felt bad for it. I tried to multiply the estimated length, but it didn't seem to change anything.

Thanks, good to know. If something takes longer than expected, I'll just point to this :) @peterkerj7357

23:10 Theoretically it's pretty easy for someone to understand how complex programming is. Just write down everything that has to happen. But you really have to think of everything. It's only a few buttons an an image. But the image has to be read from memory in a specific custom format, and you can switch it using buttons. The images need to be cached for efficiency, since there might be many different images. And the texts of the buttons need to be translated to each supported language. And most important: Sometimes bugs appear. Often they can be fixed in a few minutes, but you first have to find the problem. And finding the problem sometimes only takes a few minutes and sometimes a whole day or even longer. And even the same bug could take a factor of hundred longer depending on if your first guess is right. And that's almost random. But more often than not, it's not the first thing you think of. Else you probably would have checked it while programming already.

I also never "work" at work. I program, which is basically my hobby, and I tell interns what to do. You can't call that work, can you? 🤡
