  2. So I have a brutto of maybe 2000€, my netto is 1500€, but my boss pays 2500€, so 40% taxes already. Then there's 19% Mehrwertsteuer. Let's round it to 20%. It's less for food, but more for other things like Benzin. So the total taxes are 0.6 (40%) times 0.8 (20%), which is 0.5 (50%). There probably are even more taxes which I didn't include yet. And if you earn more, it's more than these 40% income tax.
