  1. You can try to improve the world, but then it gets worse in a different way. Maybe a more realistic example: If you give people money, who are too stupid to earn their own money, they will more likely reproduce, and in a few generations, there are not enough people, who can work, anymore, to feed everyone, and even more people have to die. But letting them die now, even if we can help them, is not necessarily a good solution as well. Or you could say, there is a good solution: Preventing poor people, who want to have free money, from getting children. But if this was really the best solution to that problem, why isn't this done? It probably has bad sites, too.

  2. I don't like to write plot driven stories. Maybe I should try grim dark. But I also like utopia. Maybe something about some people who struggle living in a specific utopia.

  3. Is something like "We can't defeat them, but we can escape them" still grim dark? You can either be part of the empire or just live alone with your girlfriend. Could you already call this a trope in itself? I read a book and played a game with this setting, both having pretty simple names: "Anthem" and "Haven" But in one of them it even looks like they could win in the long term.

  4. I also played a game, where everyone wants the protagonist to die. It's called "YIIK". But I liked him. I just thought, he says, what I would say.
