@nyankers He wasn’t even the worst of his era, it’s just that those people who were worse have essentially had their names scrubbed from history. Have you ever seen a photo of Gengrik Yagoda or Lazar Kaganovich? Both were worse than Hitler and likely contributed heavily to his rise.

What’s odd is that they have soft power, not real power. Not really. FDR and the new dealers were fascists, not national socialists. Most of what was improved in German was done so because the people are Germans. Germans are impressive people — they built most of the United States through the Great Lakes and Midwest, too. That wasn’t about their politics; it was about them.

But the thing is the autobahn wasn’t built because Nazis were in charge but because Germans are German. They’re remarkably impressive people in their own right, which is why they attracted all those Jews to live among them. You can impose any government on the Germans and they will still thrive.

@sb17899 I’m not saying they are, and I’m a tiny bit German, but they are impressive. Japanese people are also impressive. Sometimes even Slavic people can be impressive — they’re certainly taller and blonder than Germans and built the second largest economy in the world under the most repressive outsider government in history under the Soviet Union. Some people thrive under any situation.

The Js have done a significant job following us around, parasitically, by making themselves seem pathetic while they infiltrate our institutions. But they wouldn’t get kicked out of so many places if they had hard power. The power they have is in your head. It’s a phantom. They don’t have the guns. That’s what I mean.

We let them convince us they have real power, but what they really have is just the ability to shame. Epstein was a blackmail operation. @mapesdhs597 Exactly. And even your view of history is too high-minded; historical movements are general not intellectual but guttural. Germans could see their country falling into decadence and could identify the culprit. Most of history is a general, radiating feeling from the people and when everyone you hate is a pervert or a communist and those two things also introduce a third common trait — small hats. Whatever they felt the general malaise was, even as they couldn’t articulate it through specific policy or economics, they could sense larger and more obvious issues and respond. It was probably very much like whites in Detroit in the 1940s and 1950s watching people who obviously just arrived slowly destroy their city. You needn’t any charts or long dissertations to understand what was happening.
