The best way to deal with these people is to allow them to be the enemy of your enemy while not becoming their friend. I don’t much care for the lad, Fuentes, but i see no reason to get in his way or to “disavow.”

Other than immigration, I can’t discern how paleo conservatives are very different than traditional libertarians except that they’re more tyrannical about their liberties. It feels more like an affect difference rather than a philosophical difference.

@BackwaterEnclave To your point, perhaps fascism is a right-wing ideology after all in that it’s forever reactionary against another forever reactionary ideology, marxism ( or whatever state collectivism you want to pick ) which is, of course, reactionary to capitalism. In order to fight to maintain our freedoms, we will have to adopt the mechanisms of our enemy and, if in a sense, become them. “The iron hand crush’d the tyrant’s head and became the tyrant in his stead.” That seems to sum up your last sentence. All of it reminds me of what Hayek said if he had to choose one of these totalitarian -isms to live under; he’d choose fascism run by the English or Americans. The more I look at my options as an enlightenment capitalist the more I’m inclined to agree. In a sense you can feel why Ford took the fascists side not as a torch for us to weld but as a bargain with scoundrels lest they get something worse with even worse scoundrels. It almost seems like this is where the cunnundrum in the right is now — do we have the courage for Paradox of Tolerance to root out our awful elements in society or will be have our Bolshevism in 10 years with “principled republicans” instead of the five-year plan we’re on now?
