@urbanlibertarian2520 It means we’re losing. Having to restate the obvious is a late-stage sign of decadence of which there is no social recovery. It means clinical psychopaths are in charge and they don’t care about the obvious.

“ Militia” meant “standing army.” Madison just didn’t use that phrasing because it was verboten at the time. They just fought a revolution and the third amendment shows you part of why. But they knew they needed and army. But the first part of the second amendment is exponentially more profound than the second part.

@Ashigeru47 “A well-regulated militia” = Standing army. Not only is it that basic, for the rest of the logic to follow it must be that. Your right to bear arms does not come as a result of conscription – voluntary or conpulsary; it’s only reason is to fight the army that you agree you must have to protect you from invasion. The person who wrote the bill of rights was not a soldier and the framers weren’t a monolith. The logic in the amendments is the result of apriori rights or negative liberty. In this premise, no state could call you to use your labor for military purposes. Negative liberty was the genius of the Enlightenment. It’s why “shall not” and “shall make no law” is phrased the way it is.
