Capitalism isn’t “buying in,” it’s being able to do it without government interactions. You’re conflating entrepreneurialism with capitalism.

@thankmelater1254 Totally.

@ChrisWilliams-lf8ex Adam Smith never said or wrote the word “capitalism,” but you’re right in that Marx didn’t invent it, either, but he was directly responsible for its use in the language ( like Trotsky and “racism”). One should probably call capitalism a discovery, not an invention, because, again, capitalism is when the state leaves your economic transactions alone.

@Samuraid77 No, it’s not. Seizing an opportunity is what every communist did. Lysenko merely seized an opportunity. Stalin encouraged innovation and entrepreneurship. It’s how those things are regulated and taxed that make it capitalism. Capitalism is not opportunism. Capitalism isn’t entrepreneurship. Capitalism isn’t even markets in themselves or private property — those exist in fascism as well as national socialism and communism. Capitalism is merely your right to act in the market without outside monopoly power from the state. That’s literally it.

@WildTrek How else do you think the USSR industrialized? Again, capitalism is the pre/post facto aspect of exchanges in the marketplace. Even a Bakunist understands innovation — its the division of profit that concerns them, not the endeavor of acting in a market.
4
@Antiteshmis No, stupid. PERSONALLY PROFITING from entrepreneurship is a crime. You are aware that the Soviets made and innovated things, right? Again, slow reader, Stalin encouraged entrepreneurship. Just not personal profit from it. Never let anyone lie to you and tell you you’re smart, OK, stupid? You insist on the truth.

@rath6375 Capitalism was defined first by Marx, stupid. The definition you found is in that spirit. Focus, stupid — who’s hands off of what? We all did this if fourth grade… cmon…

@Antiteshmis If you won’t be embarrassed by how low IQ you are, then I won’t be, either.
3
@rath6375 It’s not unique to any economic system. Markets exist in all systems — even Stalin understood this. See, capitalism isn’t something you can do, it’s only something you can prevent to have happen to you.

@rath6375 What does laissez faire mean? Focus here. It’s who’s hands off of what? Remember, focus!

@WildTrek Jack Ma. Google him.
2
@edennis8578 He is at the whim of a communist party and an innovator, entrepreneur. He is but one of thousands of socialist/communist entrepreneurs.
2
@Antiteshmis Multistage rockets and the artificial heart were invented in the Soviet Union. Lysenko spread his brand of Soviet science there, too. It doesn’t matter what you “guess.”
2
@leonardwei3914 Forcing collectivism is innovation. It’s a shitty innovation, but like encouraging Lysenko’s “science,” he encouraged committed marxists to create new things. You know they had markets there, too, right? In any society with a division of labor there will be markets.

What I most despise about the left is they force me to defend things I don’t particularly care for, like the rich, police and corporations. But they suck that much.
