MAGA is a kind of mild fascism. But it’s preferable to all other systems of government save the capitalism this country was founded on. Remember — fascism is Italian, not German. It’s essentially muscular Keynesianism with a nationalistic backstory. National socialism, socialism, and communism are all exponentially worse. Like Hayek said, if I had to live under a totalitarian form of government, I would choose fascism run by Americans. I prefer freedom and capitalism, but you can’t defeat communism without adopting some of its institutional tenets.

Fascism isn’t German. It’s Italian. Germans and Italians weren’t always allies during the 1930s.

@Chud_Bud_Supreme FDR once said of Mussolini that he'd be keeping "an eye on that fine Italian gentleman." There were collectivist elements that he liked about Mussolini's program and there was a time when fascism was revered by the American left intelligentsia.

@jacquesstrapp3219 Neither Spain, Germany or Argentina — among others — were fascist in any doctrinal way; the governments that arose were merely called fascist by their opponents, who were more feral and intellectual but still lost. Fascism is Italian like Champagne is French.

@jacquesstrapp3219 No. Just because you don't have a refined palette doesn't mean others don't, either. You just don't understand the distinctions. Even Stalin became pretty "for the motherland" when the Germans were advancing, all nations become nationalistic. Its in the word. These people did not see themselves as you do. Why do you persist in your erroneous understanding?

Just that lie, that nationalism started WWI, is ludicrous. Royal families started that war, not nations. What’s worse, though, is the next world war was started by non-royal families, democracies, and they killed far more.

@Stan_Vanderakt Concentration camps didn’t make him a fascist. The socialists were the champions of detention camps, anyways. Doctrinal Fascism is almost entirely economical. The new deal made FDR a fascist, not his Japanese policies.
