These ideologies aren’t competing as opposites — fascism and communism — they’re just competing for the same presumed audience. In post World War I Germany; at one end of the beer hall was the Austrian painter preaching about worker’s pride and at the other end, Rosa Luxemburg and her feral boyfriend, preaching communism. Both ostensibly wanted the working class vote and offered similar, though not the same, solutions to defeat the capitalists. What’s interesting about Mussolini’s rise is that it followed the red biennium., and Mussolini actually cut taxes and spending like a capitalist, but with the goal of moving through capitalism to get to socialism. Even as he was booted from the Marxist party, he was still faithful to the Marxist conception of “modes of production” as requirement to move through them in steps as a means of achieving the consummation of history.

@VandalJace no one voting in Chicago now was anywhere near that city when it was built. The people there now – the feral blacks and the transient liberals — have sacked that city more thoroughly than the turks in Constantinople or the Spanish in the New World.
