@VallornDeathblade The entire civil war and 600,000 deaths were the result of his overreach and warped sense of his ambition. Did you know he shut down nearly 300 newspapers? Did you know he once tried to have the Chief Justice arrested and a US Rep deported? That he suspended habeas corpus? I could go on about that venal, petty man…

You can’t be American. America is not the “Anglo-Sphere.” There are more whites of German descent than English. And so short your memory is — you could be speaking German, or Russian, without our help. Twice. Learn your place.

There was tremendous pressure to do it. I don’t know if any American president save Calvin Coolidge would have vetoed it.

Internationalists never forget a time they were slighted even if, especially if, they deserved it.

@iumasz6088 The South was invaded. They didn’t declare war. And seriously? Slavery? Do you think the southern boys who didn’t own slaves — 95% of them — would fight to keep slaves? Do you think the northern boys would give their lives to free them? You don’t know what sports are like let alone war. And yeah. I read your comment. That’s the source of my contempt for your paltry understanding of history.

@worldofdoom995 Like Biden, it was Lincoln’s fault.

Lincoln, then FDR, were our worst presidents. Obama goes where Bush II goes.

@iumasz6088 What? Yours is some really lazy, accept-the-propaganda-from-fifth-grade analysis. Every battle save one took place on northern soil. The Confederace could have simply given the Declaration of Independence to Lincoln and left. There’s a reason they didn’t try Jeff Davis for treason after the war — they thought they’d lose. Let me ask you — why are you any less cynical about the Civil War than the Iraqi war? Why are these things morally different to you?

@Bender_B._Rodriguez Washington will always be greatest, if only for being first and stepping down voluntarily. But Coolidge was the best, and last, laissez faire president. He was the prototype.
