But America’s founding proposition is freedom in the stead of government providing “security” beyond protecting/refereeing property right claims and defending borders. It’s important to remember the enlightenment roots of that position as well as to be reminded of how this country got to be so rich.

But your second part is pure speculation: you’re assuming normal-people situations that escalate into violence when they don’t need such conditions to escalate violence. That kid that got stabbed in NYC last week only wanted the feral boy to stop damaging things.
