Almost — but you missed something crucial. It’s not a lack of responsibility, it’s the open defiance of it. Their entire identity is to defy standards because they can’t meet standards. These are not deep people.

@TheAchilles26 Great point which seems like semantics but isn’t.

No. Shame is how OTHERS make you conscious of your guilt for not upholding standards. Guilt, as someone else pointed out, is when you understand you’re not meeting standards without any external reminder.

You don’t understand — these people feel shame. But they also feel their inferiority in a world they can’t advance in on their talent, so they reject it all not for any other sake but as a cope for their inferiority, of which they are vaguely aware. This metastasizes into a pride at the defiance of standards because they know they can’t meet those standards. They’re easily diagnosed psychopaths, clinically, and have learned to create a currency and identity around our scorn. They’ve discovered they have nothing else but their own nihilism against standards they benefit from but cannot themselves meet.

I think you don’t quite get it — these people are vaguely aware of their inability to meet standards others would feel shame for violating, so they derive their entire identity from flipping the script. Their whoredom, their criminality, their defiance of our standards is the only way they can cope with not meeting them. It becomes their identity not only to fail in trying but to proclaim the failure is on purpose, and they prolifically violate those standards as the sole source of their nihilistic identity.

The internet neither created or proliferated this; only your awareness of it. It’s always been like this.

@khure711 Oh, and boy — the world is littered with books about how progress is an illusion. While you’re cleaning to toilets, think about all the books you’ve never read that could have stopped you from being the low-IQ quixotic who’s only qualified to clean toilets. They better be clean, too. You can’t lose this job, too.
