That material conditions have changed around us over time hasn't changed that its backed by something far deeper that none of us actually understands but can see unfold every in us, and around us, every day. Its quite likely that our ability to think it ISN'T our nature that guides us is probably what is unique about the last 500 years or so, especially. There probably is a lot less free will in the world than we think or give ourselves credit for, even as we've convinced ourselves that we can. You have your father's nose — why wouldn't you have his intellect, and your mother's temper, or so on and so on?
