  4. Everyone seems to forget that this is the first time Russia has ever gone up against a neer-peer army in 80 years in WWI. All their other fighting has been against rag tag neighborhood militias in Chechnya, Georgia and Syria mostly just killing & terrorizing civilians. Look at how well Russia is doing in its first real war Lol! America fought the 3rd largest military in the world in 1991, a military that used Soviet doctrine & weapons exactly like Russia today and America ran them over in 100 hours which is the time it would take them to defeat Russia in a war today only what remains of the Black Sea fleet would also be sunk. This is not bravado this is the real different between Americas capabilities and Russias capabilities, the difference between combined arms mobil warfare and trench warfare.

  6.  @piotrd.4850 There will be no treaty anytime soon but Russia very much wants to freeze the battlefield right now, they don’t have the combat power to take any more territory or their first major city. Any treaty that’s drafted will have Ukraine being fast-tracked into NATO with full NATO protection until they become full members but it’s very likely the lines will be frozen where they are now, they don’t move in 2023.

I wonder when Russia is going to figure out that Ukraine is only using Bakhmut to destroy as much men & material as possible before they kick off their offensive, not to hold on to a decimated city with little strategic or operational value. I also wonder when Ukraine is going to figure out that if they gave this city up and fell back to their prepared lines behind open fields where they could greatly increase their kill ratio compared to the urban warfare they are doing now while taking a lot of casualties at. There is still a lot we don’t know about apparently, the next two months are going to be interesting.

  12. It’s only slow because it’s the muddy season, once the ground freezes and Ukrainian armor starts rolling again the Russians will go back to getting routed. Once winter sets in I don’t see how the Russian lines won’t just start collapsing with mass surrenders of these conscripts who will be freezing to death in trenches without proper winter clothing or logistical support.

  14. Both counter offensives failed, nothing was gained in 2023 for both sides except a lot of death & destruction. Ukrain liberated 523 square kilometers and Russia gained 587 square kilometers. So in 2023 Russia gained 64 square kilometers of territory at the cost of over 200,000 dead & wounded, do you think it was worth it, do you think this is some kind of a victory? Over 200,000 Russians were killed & wounded in 2023, far more than ukraine because of the insane unsupported infantry & meat-wave tactics they used, Russia doesn’t give a damn how many men they lose, never have and never will and that’s why they are so hard to beat, not because they are good at war because they are not they just have an extremely high pain threshold.

  16.  @duanehirini2078  - Russia was desperate for a symbolic victory after they were stopped dead in their tracks by HIMARS last July while Ukraine retook one major city after another so they chose the 56th largest city because it was on their border and had direct rail service into Russia. 11 months, 70k+ casualties and a massive loss of military equipment but they captured the rubble but are getting slowly encircled and had to bring in the last of their reserves all pinned down in one area where they can be easily destroyed. The idiots have stepped in a trap and don’t even realize it yet.

  18.  @eufrosniad994  - Russia annexed Donbas and two additional areas of Ukraine which they don’t even control, they are part of Russia so why don’t they use nukes instead of retreating? Putin will never use tactical nukes, that would cause much much more damage & fallout for Russia than any minimal gain it would give them and besides he would be nuking his own troops as they don’t have any NBC gear or training and also fallout would drift over to Russian cities. He would have to use a minimum of 6 nukes to even make a difference on the battlefield, NATO would get directly involved and the Russian army would be defeated in a few days along with every ship in their Black Sea fleet would be sunk and that would be much more humiliating than what Ukraine is doing to them now.

This is not a NATO war, if the US or NATO got involved all Russian forces in Ukraine and the Black Sea Fleet would be completely destroyed in 4 days. This is also what will happen if Putin is stupid enough to use a tactical nuke. American has only given Ukraine the low end of its arsenal and a fraction of it, they would tear Russia to pieces without having to set a foot in Ukraine. This clown also thinks the referendum means something when not even India or China recognize it. It was a pathetic move by a man who is losing power by the day and the world does not give a shit what Russia thinks. They can use it as an hilarious excuse to make conscripts fight in Ukraine and that’s it, if he uses it to invoke Russian doctrine on using nukes as a last resort when being invaded see above - 4 days and the Russian army & navy will cease to exist. America has already told Ukraine to feel free to use their heavy weapons in the shame referendum territories because what Putin did is laughable and not seen as legit by anyone in the world. None of you have ever been in the military and it shows, there is no advantage to using combat veterans in basic training when they are just learning the basics of being a soldier the combat veterans tech the boots once they get to their units and that’s where the real training begins. It does not matter how much NATao training you give Ukraine because they will never perform anywhere near as well as NATO does with its decades of experience & training. Ukrainians are very good at fighting Russians in this kind of a war, NATO doesn’t do trench warfare or artillery duals, NATO does combined arms mobile warfare with precision weapons. Combined Arms Mobil Warfare is very difficult and requires a ton of training which is why Russia cannot do it even those they have some of the best aircraft in the world.

  24.  @569-m5p  Russia is firing 1/10 of the number of shells they were firing in the Donbas this summer, HIMARS pushed the ammo dumps back in Russia so they have to be trucked a long way in, which is why Ukraine has been and is cutting all access to logistics off, look at what’s happening in Lymon & Kherson. Russia is also apparently running out of artillery guns, replacement barrels & ammo, they are having to buy it from N. Korea, top notch ordnance I’m sure.

No bridge is hard to knock out, they are static targets, they didn’t have GPS guided bombs in Vietnam and the bridge you are referring to, the Thanh Hóa bridge, was knocked out in 1972 by one of the first use of a experimental laser guided bomb in the world the US had been working on that dropped the bridge.

How come Russia is unable to gain air superiority or do a single combined arms attack like a modern western military does and still depends solely on massive amounts of artillery and the railroads to supply them, why are they fighting like its WWI in the 21st century? No western military has fought in trenches since WWI because this is an obsolete form of warfare, they have adapted and moved on whereas Russia is not? The Russian military is a joke, the complete laughing stock of all the militaries in the world for how they fought this war and you know damn well they wouldn’t last a week against America or NATO.

They could kill Zelensky tonight if they wanted, they just don’t want to but trust me they could.

Ukraine wiped out 25% of Russias Black Sea fleet, killed the commander of this fleet and many of its high ranking officers and they don’t even have a navy, Ukraine controls the Black Sea without a Navy! 😂😂😂

  38. Russia is taking horrendous casualties because of their tactics, 315,000 killed & wounded as of October and November was the deadliest month of the entire war for Russia. What is being done to Russian soldiers is cruel and reprehensible, unsupported infantry assaults, Storm-Z meatwave assaults with blocking troops, making wounded soldiers go on these assaults. These men have been there for almost a year and a half, they have shit for weapons no training or decent cold weather gear, Ukraine has the finest cold weather gear from Canada and the Norwegian countries and get rotated off the lines regularly but not Russia. There is no end in sight for these men they are in for the duration of the war but murders & rapist only serve 6 months and get to go home as free men to brutalize the Russian public again, how do you think this makes the forcibly mobilized feel? This is a totally unnecessary war that’s being taught for Putins vanity and his legacy and nothing more. Putin doesn’t care how many Russians he kills, Putin doesn’t give two-shits about his soldiers or how many die, Putin killed & wounded almost 200,000 Russians in 2023 for 63 square kilometers of territory.

The Gulf War of 1991 is an example of the difference between these two types, Iraq was the 3rd largest army in the world and followed Soviet doctrine to the letter and they used trench warfare. America using combined arms mobile warfare defeated Iraq in 100 hours which is the time it was take for America to defeat the entire Russian army in Ukraine today only they would also sink the entire Black Sea fleet during this 100 hour war.

  46.  @unholyone8638  - It is in no way a critical city either operationally or tactically, there are still major cities that will be a lot more difficult to take if Russia wants to control all of Donbas, which they never will. Bakhmut it a purely symbolic battle being fought for political purposes, not military. Ukraine is indeed taking large casualties now and it’s a 1:1 ratio as is coming in urban warfare but in the months leading up to now Ukraine had anywhere from a 5:1 to a 7:1 casualty rate according to British & American intelligence and the most respected military think tanks RAND and ICW. If you want to believe what the Russian MoD is telling you, numbers that defy all military logic, go right ahead, Russia is decimating Ukraine and once Bakhmut falls so will Kiev and the rest of the country.

America defeated the Taliban and removed them from control in Afghanistan in only 6 weeks with only 100 men, then they tried to nation build and bring democracy & progress to a tribal cave dwelling people who wanted neither so they left. Russia has taken 315,000 casualties in less than two years in a country next door to them and have only taken a small strip on land in the first few days of the war and nothing since! 😂😂😂

Russia has been trying since October 10th to capture this small town and has failed while losing untold thousands of men & machines yet look at all the celebration over an offensive that’s been a bigger failure than Ukraines offensive. It sure doesn’t take much to make you guys happy, trading a thousand lives to gain a few meters and you all are elated, it’s just astounding that Russia cannot even close a 12 kilometer gap to encircle Ukraine despite having them almost completely surrounded after three months & thousands of assaults ending in entire Russian columns being destroyed. It’s just astounding what goes for a victory for Russia these days, months and massive casualties and you all are gleeful over a few scraps of land?
