@AvatarAang100 Lol no it’s not, name one thing he has gotten right on this war. The Institute for the Study of War is who has been eerily correct with their predictions this entire war, not this kid with no military experience or training whatsoever, he just parrots Russian telegram channels.

True but I can’t recall in modern times of a military unite fleeing without having setup a rear guard. It happened with Russia when they were routed out of Karkiev last fall but not on a large scale.

I know right, this is the guy who claims Ukraine is losing more men than Russia only because Russia has more artillery. He doesn’t even consider that Russian doctrine uses artillery as a area weapon, not a precision weapons as Ukraine does according to NATO doctrine. He also doesn’t realize that reinforced bunkers can survive direct hits from artillery and that these positions have been prepared & upgraded since 2014.

@firebyte69 - Thats a terrible example, let’s put it in prospective shall we? The U.S. also never lost a single battle in the entire Vietnam war, not once, and they sure as hell were not routed as Russia has been numerous times over the last year. America also lost half as many men in 15 years than Russia lost in one year. America also killed over 3 million Vietnamese while only losing 58,000 which is one hell of a kill ratio.

I wonder when Russia is going to figure out that Ukraine is only using Bakhmut to destroy as much men & material as possible before they kick off their offensive, not to hold on to a decimated city with little strategic or operational value. I also wonder when Ukraine is going to figure out that if they gave this city up and fell back to their prepared lines behind open fields where they could greatly increase their kill ratio compared to the urban warfare they are doing now while taking a lot of casualties at. There is still a lot we don’t know about apparently, the next two months are going to be interesting.

I was last here 3 months ago and he not only said Russia had basically taken Bakhmut but that they would sweep in and take Kostiantynivka & Sloviansk within the week Lol!!

@unholyone8638 - It is in no way a critical city either operationally or tactically, there are still major cities that will be a lot more difficult to take if Russia wants to control all of Donbas, which they never will. Bakhmut it a purely symbolic battle being fought for political purposes, not military. Ukraine is indeed taking large casualties now and it’s a 1:1 ratio as is coming in urban warfare but in the months leading up to now Ukraine had anywhere from a 5:1 to a 7:1 casualty rate according to British & American intelligence and the most respected military think tanks RAND and ICW. If you want to believe what the Russian MoD is telling you, numbers that defy all military logic, go right ahead, Russia is decimating Ukraine and once Bakhmut falls so will Kiev and the rest of the country.

@Frank-ru5im - Military think tanks say that. Wagner might not be the regular Russian army but they are fighting for the Russian Federation so they are no different that the Russian army, just more effective. Same with the LPR / DPR, all are Russian forces that Ukraine has to deal with just the same.

@ouinon4138 The Institute for the Study of War has been extremely accurate in their predictions over the last year in this war, go back and read their reports and you will see just how eerily accurate they have been.

@Sun-Tzu- From the reaction of Gen Austin, he wasn’t the one insisting they be out on the 11th, the 20th anniversary, I hope there is a congressional investigation so we can find out who’s really to blame, I know Gen Miley approved of closing Bagram which was just so stupid but yeah they are the ones who should have known better and should have listened to their subordinates in Afghanistan who knew it would be a debacle.

@karstenseterbakken3617 - If the US was allowed to use the tactics that Russia is using in Ukraine today the Vietnam war would have been over in a year. It was a horribly mismanaged war where civilians had control , not the military, but America in no shape, form or fashion “got its ass kicked” like Russia is today. America gave up and left Vietnam, for good reason, and two years later it fell to the communist.

@iconicamericano1131 I think the same, they are depleting large numbers of Russian men & machines before their spring offensive and are buying time until all of the advanced weapons from the west arrive. Another reason is that if Russia takes Bakhmut they will move on to shell and completely destroy Kramatorsk and the other remaining cities in the Donbas. The U.S. has urged them for weeks to abandon Bakhmut but the Ukrainian generals said no, they have proven to be highly competent in this war and they insist on staying for now but I don’t think it will be much longer. Ukraine will not be routed, they aren’t stupid and know how to fight Russians better than anyone else in the world.
