@Kamen_Rider_Blade how do you define "crowded"?

Quebec also has their rail systems patterned after the French, which explains why Montreal has a better metro than, say, Toronto and Vancouver.

No wonder why you Americans have all become people-hating misanthropes. Having businesses you can go to at any time of the day is the best thing to have.

Japanese car manufacturers did, because workers living nearer their factories is better. American car companies are a whole different kind of monster.

Imagine if both had realistic minimum parking requirements hahahaha

Sadly yes, especially in Ontario and Alberta

Only cowards move. Stay and change your community

@HaloDude557 that's the point. Politics is ALWAYS tied with zoning regulations. The same people who hate zoning reform are the ones trying to block housing and transit developments, because they "don't want undesirables nearby" (their words not mine)

That same Berkeley with the worst NIMBYs, yes.

@newhampshirelifestyle4233 as long as the snowplows works on a regular basis, it's just fine. Americans are just wimps.

Life Where I'm From has a video about zoning laws in Japan.
1
@zumazuma568 they have the weird mindset that businesses = crime

Meh, Dubai and Riyadh copied US style urban planning - lots of roads, highways, and parking lots. Most ME cities had public transport until the 2010s
1
HOAs are much worse.
1
@PlayWaves1 only cowards move without a fight
1
It's actually Americans imposing their beliefs and zoning regulations over everyone else. HOAs alone have ruined so many lives, like why the f*** would anyone give private individuals the right to foreclose homes?
1
Ironic, since Florida only thrived mainly becsuse of the railways.

Depends. In Japan, some light industries are allowed near residential areas. Heavy industries like petrochemicals and shipbuilding are located in a separate district of town altogether
1
Even Japan has FAR regulations. But somehow they still manage to make their cities dense and livable.
1
@Mr-DNA_ American suburbs have copy-pasted houses and cul-de-sacs as far as the eye can see. It's far worse to see the same thing spread over hundreds of hectares than just looking up.
1
@computernerdtechman 🎉 it is much better and safer to have noisy drunks walking home than driving under influence.
1
@ousamadearudesuwa 70% of traffic in Metro Manila are private vehicles, sadly. So no, the jeepneys aren't the problem.
1
@EdmontonRails many cities outside the US have trees along their roads too. It's just that local governments seem to always want to widen roads and cut down trees in cities.

Ewan ko lang a. Mas ok nga sitwasyon dito e. Pagtawid may tindahan agad, kahit sa probinsya ganun kadali makabili sa tindahan. Ayoko magsayang ng gas para lang mamili no

@soltersortna now I know why there are sky-high obesity, diabetes, and heart ailment rates in the US. 🙃 the infrastructure is deliberately designed for people NOT to exercise.
