  1. From what I can observe, the poster is very introspective and conscientious. He's a deep thinker with ideals and a slightly higher degree of neuroticism than maybe your average physician. Most neurosurgeons tend to be more matter of fact and on the shallow end of the affect scale, which is a good trait to have when working under a lot of pressure. It's like when I confronted my doctor about refusing blood work for a physical. Routine lab work for healthy patients does not improve quality of life or prevent illness based on statistics. It's just a thing that they all do. She kind of agreed with me but replied, " True....but this is our practice's recommendation!" Just matter of fact, cold as ice. I was like, WTF??
