Most people on jury’s won’t give death penalty because our laws state if there is evidence of mental illness then they are to assign life in prison instead due to that huge mitigating circumstance by the way the law reads! Plus people are wimps on death and feel it’s for only the worst offenders like multi murderer serial killers! Plus it had to be unanimous jury decision and people hold out not believing it’s right. That changed in some states to 8 of 12 now but still death evades jury’s. Plus the drugs to do lethal injection have not worked on some guys and torture happened in front of witnesses and victims and they were so traumatized! Plus can’t get the drugs and they are too costly! Millions! Elec chairs malfunctioned too causing fires! It was all just gone wrong! So many reasons it’s banned in most states now!
