  1. There are barely any subs capable to go down so deep, they first need to get there, and the endangered sub might have drifted off anyways.

  2. Surely many had the same thought, and many other ideas. But it's reasonable to assume the engineers involved in this didn't implement such things for a reason. So I would rather frame it as a question.
