All I could see from my grandparents' home in Flatbush was the lights of Ebbetts Field on the brownstones across the street -- but up in Westchester we saw the flashing, tumbling launch rocket crossing the sky [the satellite was too small to see without binoculars]. These days, get visible predictions at www.heavens-above.com, the ISS is as bright as Venus. BTW, Iridium flares were great but the satellites have been decommissioned and no longer are oriented for reflecting back to Earth.
