Some people will believe anything to trick themselves into thinking they're smarter than ordinary folks who live in the real world.

@daluven -- I want to know it all, so unless you just made it up to sound smart, will you please help me learn? Here's a report I've posted on my own investigations along these lines. http://www.jamesoberg.com/vanishing_cosmonauts_with_photos.pdf

How many blew up?

@gdwnet -- Those kinds of stories WERE very widespread in the early years, mostly misinterpretations or bad guesses, some [like the Italian brothers] pure hoaxes, others just wish-fulfillment. Here's what they looked like in the 1970s: 1975 http://www.jamesoberg.com/phantoms.html 1988 http://www.jamesoberg.com/usd10.html

@gdwnet == After Soviet collapse in 1990, with the space industry in ruins and veterans starving, they came forward to sell everything -- artifacts, documents, diaries, all the previously hidden stuff. ALL of it -- Sotheby's even had two big auctions of space hardware [I was their authentication consultant]. Everybody wanted to sell their stories, to save their families from starvation or medical crises. Private historians got to go to places and see hardware and read logbooks once hidden for the entire duration of the USSR -- which then collapsed. http://www.jamesoberg.com/space-sleuths-book.pdf

@dirty_deeds3523 -- Don't forget, a Soyuz exploded in mid-launch not long ago but the escape system saved the crew.
4
@b0mby1 -- You know that this movie was made up to trick hopelessly gullible victims, for fun and profit, right?
4
@b0mby1 -- No problem. But it wasn't a dramatization [like 'Apollo-13' or 'First Man'] or a documentary, based on a real event. It was what we call a 'crockumentary'. where 'crock' ['jar'] is part of the common American phrase, 'crock of $hit', as in, total nonsense. There are many reality-based on-line sites for spaceflight, I would be happy to point you to some.

"Secret dead cosmonauts' was a rumor in the 1960s but turned out to be fully mythical. Never actually happened. Some people will believe anything to trick themselves into thinking they're smarter than ordinary folks who live in the real world.

Lots of folks suspected that, at the time, but it turned out to be misinterpretations, rumors, and some outright hoaxes by the Italian kids. Why nobody believes the Judica-Cordiglia brothers any more http://www.jamesoberg.com/judica-cordiglia.pdf and http://www.jamesoberg.com/udica-cordiglia-2.pdf

Those misinterpretations AND outright hoaxes by the Italian kids were exposed back in the last century. Want the evidence?

@PApro == " so the soviets say." == Uh, no. So the world's spaceflight historians say, after decades of investigation. Do you pick and choose what you 'believe' in order to make you feel smart?
1
@PApro == What the Soviet government desired isn't the issue. The origin of the widespread rumors could be tracked back to actual secret accidents on the ground [like Bondarenko's horrible death in the oxygen chamber], for example, or just over-eager misinterpretations of many mysterious events, or [as in the case of the Italian brothers] deliberate hoaxes. A lot of people with a lot more resources than you did dig deeply and widely trying to follow all the clues. You might profit by at least learning how hard and smart they worked before dismissing them as foolish dupes of Commie propagandists.
1
@PApro "where as you believe what other people tell you to believe." == Nothing you could say better proves the world of ego-boosting self-delusion you have assembled. GENUINE research needs people with honest curiosity and it's a lot more fun, why not try it for a change?
1
@PApro == It's not me telling you, it's the consensus of the world's leading spaceflight historians, plus cosmonauts, astronauts, military veterans from both sides -- and you're relying on some anonymous internet posters who make money off of attracting gullible kiddies to 'hit' their links? .
1
@PApro == "There are a number of other cases that have yet to be confirmed one way or the other." == For example? You do realize the Italian brothers who were picking up cosmonaut signals in the 1960s were hoaxing it, right?
1
@PApro "You just have a boxed in closed mind." == Maybe your mind is so open, your brain has fallen out? [wink] How about some verifiable evidence for the assertions you've made so confidently? Meanwhile, you might enjoy this line of Soviet space photo forgery exposure: http://www.jamesoberg.com/vanishing_cosmonauts_with_photos.pdf

Several secret training deaths, but as it turned out, none on actual space flights.
1
Excellent point -- I'm astonished they did NOT send a guy up on a rocket before the South Korean flight to the ISS.

The 'knew it would kill him' version was made up by an author of a recent book to show off a 'new angle', that was imaginary. But you've got the rest of the basic outline pretty close, good for you. The one photo was not an open casket, his charcoalized torso on stretcher [from a fire on crash landing] was shown to other cosmonauts before full cremation, and the funeral involved only the urn of his ashes. www.jameseoberg.com
