DeSantis calls it "wokeness"; others recognize it as human decency.

Trump has been living in a propaganda echo chamber under the control of the likes of Alex Jones. Trump long remained separated from reality, and is finding the re-entry process a major challenge. The hesitation to invoke "an emergency" might come from recent nagging doubts: several GOP Senators are publicly opposed, more are reportedly opposed but had not gone public.Trump might be staying his hand because some of his necessary allies are urging him not to commit such an immense error. And Trump is not used to tolerating dissent or opposition.

That bastard has no honor and no shame. Trump is a stain on the nation.

+Shadowfax Friendly reminder: Trump is not God. Anyone - ANYONE - has the right to fact-check Trump's statements, and the Press has the duty to do so.

@marcustulliusc The State of Florida had entered into a BINDING compact with Disney - it is not as though the State had entered into the arrangement blind, deaf, and deprived of any mental ability except for signing on the dotted line. Orlando has an international airport... that would have been inconceivable without the Mouse. Disney is the main economic engine of central Florida. What DeSantis does to Disney, he does to Florida.

"If I win, it's legit; if I lose, it's corrupt." That's how democracy is worked in Trumpworld.

@markcoffee2945 Please do add to the conversation by providing some substance. Close to 2000 private interests also have very favorable - at least,to them - agreements with the State. Are they all /are they none / somewhere in between...less well treated than The Mouse? Disney came to Florida by dint of Floridian lobbying, combined with an attractive fiscal and financial welcome packsge.. DeSantis will go down in flames over his assault on the 1st Amendment. Florida beyond him might ask itself if ruining its full credit worthiness span his turgid political stance.

@marcustulliusc Nice YT handle, BTW. The State of Florida had freely entered into a compact with corporate Disney. The State of Florida had also entered into compacts with corporate interests... with over 1,000 entities, including the delightful people who give us thrills from Daytona. If the State of Florida were to annul all of the special districts: then it might be seen as a legal matter; put DeSantis made it personal and therefore political.

'Why did Desantis sign the new district into law if he was going to have a huge problem with it?" The cameras, or their human monitor, weren't looking.

@marcustulliusc Nazis sent LGBT members of the societies they controlled... TO EXTERMINATION CAMPS. DeSantis is not as vicious... yet.

@FaithwalkerTodd What part of "experimental" do you find so hard to grasp?

Very sad what you have deteriorated to. All humans alive on this Earth have an intrinsic right to dignity unless, by their actions they revoke it by themselves.

To the extent that Disney had damaged the Everglades, I would be glad to see a restitution action; feeding a wannabe fascist's political ambitions is not restitution. You are in a political fray, and you might like to look around and see where your true adversaries are. Sugar cane plantations are doing far worse damage to the Glades than the Mouse ever did. Are you also going after the huge agriculture interest that have so wrecked our Everglades? If not: buzz off.

@_Romans10.9_ dismemory... This evening I saw horror in witness online at a person calling DeSantis opponents as "Nazis". However, genuine WWII Nazis had rounded up homosexuals, made them wear a pink triangle, and systematically murdered them. >Side matter: in haste / in error... I typed "withness". I like it.

@_Romans10.9_ Your needs are irrelevant.

@skp8748 You are entitled to your opinion; you are not entitled to force your hateful and ignorant opinion onto others. For the record: nobody I have heard of, or from, in such matters "can choose their children by force"... whatever that might mean.

@_Romans10.9_ There are many cases of unfortunate human beings who think they perceive reality better than do others. Now go and be a good little kid, and sit before that nice doctor who really wants to hear all about your problems.

@_Romans10.9_ Do your illusions of grandeur impede you IRL?
1
@skp8748 I have not heard of anyone teaching that children can be chosen by force. Do you have any verifiable instances of this?

@skp8748 Like most kids, I had to follow various curricula along my years in school. Do YOU know what you are talking about?
1
@skp8748 Why are you interfering in US politics? As you wrote "behaviour", you signaled that you are not an immediate part of our national conversation. Might you care to clarify?
1
@_Romans10.9_ I exist. I have substinence. . Is it one of your traits that you seek to deny the existence of your opponents, perhaps eliminate them if they become too inconvenient?

What are Catholic schools teaching the kids these days?

I love how you hate the 1st Amendment.

@kills26 I do not find fault with the broad lines of your assessment. In this case, stalling might not best serve his purpose: If indeed there were "an emergency", delays do not work in his favor. Granted, he has an unshakeable support - but he needs to earn the support of non-partisans. He seems to be losing that particular struggle.
