  2. You exclude allies and the use of nukes in your scenario - but the whole point is that France has a potent nuclear arsenal. Brazil could not be sure France would not use it - or that the United States wouldn't help out its treaty NATO ally.

  7.  @mwtrolle  NATO purportedly only limits automatic triggering of Article 5 to the lands adjacent to areas of the North Atlantic and its accessory waters. The Falklands clearly were nowhere near the North Atlantic. Gyuane is on the northern shore of South America, bathing the Caribbean Sea, which conventionally is considered as part of the North Atlantic.

  12.  @VegetaUltraEgoo  Superior flight capabilities, superior weaponry, superior avionics. The French pilots are likely to be trained at a higher level of proficiency, and benefit from better intel.
