  2.  @davidteichroeb2706  You apparently don't like the Affordable Care Act, perhaps even for rational reasons. The ACA was passed by a duly elected legislature well within its session; the passage of that Act holds no parallel with an outgoing legislature subverting the decisive mandate freshly awarded by the electorate to an elected chief executive. The electorate voted for a person to do a defined job; the Repugs are now re-writing that job description. This is foul play of the most egregious nature. it is in effect a coup d'etat aimed at annulling the recent election. That does not compare in any way with passage of ACA.

  3. @Longxgun There is a major divergence in effect: Maryland's electoral map does not best reflect the will of the State's voters; the map in Wisconsin THWARTS the will of the voters. Maryland is a heavily Democratic state, and votes that way. Not even under proportional representation would the GOP win a majority of seats. In contrast, because of gerrymandering a registered Republican's vote in Wisconsin is worth almost half as much more than that of a Democratic voter, giving victory to those who actually lost the election... if it weren't for the convenient boundaries. .

  4.  @rockyrockwell50  I recognize that not all Republicans are abominable, some are even friends of mine; but I can not give them a hall pass. Trump is a threat to democracy and an affront to decency, and if the honorable Republicans don't confront him: they become complicit. It's not as though they now would be risking their lives under a totalitarian regime.

  7. Georgia's airspace is not blocked. Strangely enough. It's not a matter of Russia and Georgia having a sweet reconciliation: essentially all travel from Russia west of Helsinki is blocked. If you want or need to travel internationally from Russia, your closest connecting destinations are in Turkey - and fights are packed.
