  1. The 'not heavy enough' matter is significant. The ban on landmines only covers anti-personnel mines; anti-tank mines are allowed. You can jump on them safely.

  2. WWII arguably started when the late 1930's/early 1940's conflicts became interlocking, and spread across the globe.

  3. Technically, WWII is still ongoing. Japan and USSR had agreed to an armistice, but had never signed a peace treaty. Russia still holds what Japan calls their "Northern Territories": Kunashiri, Shikotan, Etorofu, and the Habomai group. Until this issue become resolved, WWII isn't over.
