Approx 09:28 "China buys one fourth of the wold's oil by value." I challenge this assertion. It is quite credible that PR China buys a quarter of internationally shipped petroleum and derivatives, but the US is a major consumer of these, as well as a huge producer of crude.

@elmohead That might feel like fun. Prices fall, profits fall, employment falls. If you have wealth to spend, it's going to feel great, for a while; if you need to work, these are dark days.

Singapore, as a city, is largely conterminous with Singapore as a nation-state. That same does not hold for Bangkok vis a vis Thailand.

When you write, "rare earth": do you mean lanthanide elements? I've ground my teeth reading ill-informed commentaries about newly found "rare earth" supplies, which instead turned out to be elements of different metal groups - such as cobalt, or tantalum.
