@manmonkee Many still think that France once left NATO. Not so. France left the integrated military command, while yet remaining an ally. Even in the 1980s France kept several hundred thousand soldiers in Germany to prevent a Soviet breakthrough past the Fulda Gap.

@DirkGently1972 I served with France's General Staff. Your impressions are misguided.

For ctying out loud, the fighter jet is 'Rafale', not 'Raphael'.

The commentator mentioned the " Mirage 2005". In fact, it was the Mirage 2000, variant 5.

@manmonkee There are American travelers who sport a Maple Leaf flag, because this makes them feel safer. It can make them safer, but is not an absolute guarantee

@geofflepper3207 Unless real estate were involved, Trump has the attention scope of a gnat.

@jerrydgj it would be better if Ukraine had no need to use French weapons. Former vos bataillons!

@jimdale9143 Putin's aggression must be stopped. The farther East, the better.

There is no moral sense of victory from the death and dismemberment of Russian soldiers. They have parents, sweethearts, children, who worry like hell. Why had Putin launched a war to "denazify" a country headed by a Jew whose family had almost been fully obliterated by Nazis?

Putin's clear objective is: conquest.

@TodaTruth Might you please re-phrase that in some understandable context? Thanks.

I advocate for delivery of weapons to counter Putin's imperial ambition. I was conscripted by my NATO member State as of my 18th birthday, but did not serve until I was 22 - what with student deferments. I was 23 y.,o. demobilized and fit for service in a time of peace, however in a time of terrible attention. I question why young Ukrainians are not subject to conscription at my earlier age, when there was no shooting war-?

There is no way fully to understand Putin's pestilent mind, without falling in. Yet, clearly Crimea is an appendage of his manhood. Let's go no farther.
1
@Sajuuk Is this a total coincidence? The United States, the United Kingdom, and France, are the only providers of weapons to Ukraine allowing deep strikes into Russia. They each have a nuclear arsenal.
1
@manmonkee Canada would be welcome with open arms in theory. In practice, accession most likely pull many unmet troubles to the fore.

Dictatorship is on the rise in the United States - just look at how Trump is using tactics from Orban and from Hitler, to intimidate Harvard into his compliance. Stand with Harvard!

It can be very difficult for Generals to know that a toxic political war led incompetently is lost; it can be even more difficult for them to know that the other side has not yet won.

Russian Command will make use of its forces as best it might. Cannon fodder has little military use, and becomes a draw on resources unless swiftly fed to the enemy cannons.
1
@malcolmgibson5088 these are not "Mirage 2005" planes, as reported. Agreed?
1
@geofflepper3207 Trump's influence over the quality of American weapons might be overstated. He seems to have some difficulty with object permanence.
1
Russia is not directly involved in the Gaza/Israel conflict, Ukraine can not afford to be one so. Less credible actors might appear on the field, but should be properly assessed.
1
You might need to back that up with some evidence. Then again, Putletr insists that his agression against Ukraine is to "denazify" a government led by a Jew whose family was nearly exterminated by Nazis - real ones. Doesn't that fully make sense?
1
Over many years, increasing share of Russian GDP was accounted by extraction industries. That concentrates economic power among few hands. Not the best outcome for what Soviets used to portray as "the struggling masses".
