For the record, the LCS class ships were an amazing and entirely practical idea. The execution was what is poor. The LCS was americas high tech adaptation to allow combating different threats from pirates to China with a simple module change. This has been done successfully by other countries to great effect. They are now demoing autonomous mini fleets to accompany the LCS which have been extremely effective. They just couldnt overcome the design flaws between the two variants and the manufacturing challenges.

@ProfessorDonger the US is having trouble ramping up it's naval ship yards to near wartime levels after being dormant for almost 100 years and these people think the US is death rattling. We haven't had a use for near peer warship manufacturing since the end of the cold war and even then it wasn't anything like it was during WWII. The US has only recently made the strategic decision to become near fully independent when it comes to defense manufacturing and so far we've been able to rebase almost all of our manufacturing to the US successfully already. We're just going through growing pains again from letting too many skilled laborers retire without having a reason to educate the next generation.

The DOD using OpenBSD or a similar UNIX like OS on a standardized computing platform utilizing a catalog of standardized ASICs could make mission specific drones comically cheap.

destroyed? no. The states in the US have more power than they realize. We need to pool together and majorly reform the federal government. The politicians and the permanent government is moving to centralize power. If we can frustrate that effort than we can take this country back.

@meitalthered7201 maybe. I just disagree. I think we still have a good chance to fix this country starting at the local level. Don't be a doomer

If it's single digit millions it's "low cost" to our government. The smallest procurement contract given last year was $100,000,000. That's the SMALLEST DOD procurement.
