@Schmogel92 If I had to guess it would be a combination of flakes becoming mainstream, the recent enterprise adoption/investment, and the massive effort in documentation the Nix team has put in recently. It solves the problem between VMs and Docker that many enterprises have. It just so happens to be an awesome way to declare a desktop environment as well. Declarative ephemeral linux is the most elegant way to reproduce an environment declaratively without relying on images or containers which both rely on a hypervisor. It would be interesting to see if Nix could be combined with something like LCX to enable some crazy possibilities.
