@subtletherapy regulate irresponsible adultes. America is the land of the free where we should be allowed to make our own decisions even if they're poor ones. You again reiterate the talking point of regulating the normal average responsible adult because of the minority of people who are unable to be responsible with their own decisions. You're advocating for a nanny state.

If the company failed in 18 months there was not enough funds to fund a migration to new platforms. He knew it was already over. By the time you had a conversation with him he was likely in talks about how to close doors. Even if the migration was done within that time frame all those funds would be going to something that's not generating revenue. Even if expenditure is cut significantly if it doesn't serve the purpose of raising revenue then it serves no purpose to the company. You can have very low expenses but if there is no money flowing in the company will be continuously borrowing to stay afloat.

Over regulating has always led to attractive grey/black market alternatives.

@uhadme while the sentiment is true we do have a health crisis in America. I blame high carb and high sugar diet. When I first started removing carbs and sugars from my diet for health reasons I realized just how many foods have sugars in them. It's almost impossible to avoid. I still don't blame the food companies. All they're trying to do is make a food product that people enjoy. If more people chose the healthy options then that is what these big companies would sell but it's just not what sells. And that's the point, the problem is people don't care about their health or care more about convenience, taste, and the feeling of being full than they do about their overall health. It's fine to eat things that are bad for you but not for every meal if you care about yourself.

What's dangerous is your friends irresponsible actions. The casinos did nothing to force the dude to fork over his cash. I do agree that online gambling can be as dangerous as other forms of addiction but gambling is one of the only addictions where people remove all forms of individual responsibility and solely blame the casino. Thats the equivalent of saying the crack made you smoke it.

@sarahpowell671 a better analogy is fast food. But I think we've exhausted the usefulness of analogies. Should we ban the big Mac while we're at it?

@subtletherapy you think the govement has your best interest in mind 😂

@boozecruiser my "ideology" is that people should be allowed to make the decisions they want to make. If you want additional protections it should align with that idea.

@ragepig1059 the law isn't moral. It's the law.

These companies are replacing very simple statsitical models with expensive and complex AI models. I can only assume this is done to appear more attractive to investors and not because it's actually innovative or beneficial to the business. The profit/loss reports go to confirm my suspicions.

You have to realize, half of all people are dumber the the average person and the average person isn't that bright.

@boozecruiser never said anything remotely like that. That's your conclusion not mine.

@guyanomaly it's not interfering any more than any other ad. If you get an ad for a new brand of liquor are they interfering with your ability to make sound rational decisions? What if they give you a discount off your first purchase?
