ML4W (my Linux for work) is a great out of the box configuration for hyprland. For beginners or someone who wants to use a configuration that is guaranteed to be functional it's a great option.

@Archy_43 I haven't used it myself. I have only read the config. It looks solid. They definitely add a lot of extra stuff. Not sure why it would be slow. I don't think it should be something someone uses permanently but for someone who doesn't want to spend a ton of time setting hyprland starting from scratch this can get you 90% of the way there.

The text editor should not be responsible for managing terminal sessions. Instead use terminal multiplexers like tmux (preferred) or screen (legacy but available almost everywhere). This will give you a better experience overall when accessing the terminal while using nvim.

DWM is great but suckless is not. Having to recompile to change settings is deranged. I used DWM for years and it was always a pita to configure the software using a programming language. Just have a standard set of settings that can be changed through patches like any other feature of suckless software.

@rationalityfirst you are absolutely right

@zombizombi bro, I use tiling window managers because they make me more productive. I'm not where why you're conflating being unproductive with tiling window managers. Yes, it took some time to figure out at first but now it's paying back dividends in productivity. I agree with your point that tiling window managers take too much manual configuration that should otherwise be more accessible for people who don't want to edit a config.

@arithefirst_ I'm interested why what you like about X11 over Wayland specifically. That's legitimately the first time I've heard that outside of a kiosk or business setting where legacy options are required.

@arithefirst_ I think that's fair. If you're aware and okay with the drawbacks of X11 then there's nothing wrong with using it especially if it's meeting all of your needs.

@pewds337 I agree with you and you're not likely a beginner which is who that's targeted to.
