  1. Hinduism divides all people into castes (based on the social class you are born into - and historically / originally this was based on skin colour, it to some extent still is actually). Some people are considered so low in society that they don't even belong to a caste, they are (literally) called "pariahs". They are usually dark skinned and the higher classes treat them as garbage - they believe that if someone is born poor / in a lower class, it is because they didn't behave well in some previous life (belief in reincarnation and karma).

Hitler was most certainly convinced that he was doing good by trying to exterminate the Jews who's presence he considered a lethal threat to the German people, and the other Nazis agreed with him. That is what fanatics do, they are prepared to kill other people (and often even themselves) in order to reach some kind of presupposed utopia. And then of course some real sadists (p.ex. Mengele) get involved who actually enjoy the torturing and killing.
