In the early 90s my GF worked in the Govett Brewster modern art Gallery in NZ, they had a lot of Len Lyes kinetic sculptures, but their resident conman...er sorry, "artist" was a guy called Don Driver. (google him and gaze at wonder at his "art") The 5 or 6 people that visited the gallery each year, (it was, and still is, subsidised heavily by the rate payers) thought he was the second coming. One day she comes home and announces proudly that he was making each of the staff a piece of "Art", and she couldn't wait to get her very own Don Driver piece. A month goes past and i ask did she ever get it? She brings out her personal piece of art made by the great Don Driver......A baked bean tin with the label peeled off and a length of string threaded through two holes on the edge. It was meant to be worn as a necklace, it was wearable "art". After i stopped rolling around laughing, i was called a philistine for not "getting the concept" more laughter ensued. She had a classic case of "The Emperor's New Clothes".
