@grlbl only 20 of the 28 NATO members spend the required 2% of GDP on military spending . Germany only spends 1%. So if these allies want to risk going it alone with their under funded militaries by refusing to help the US when they are in need ... well good luck to them.

@John Keith The Kurds are at war with everyone so I’m sure they would have lost those 10000 soldiers anyway. The US armed the Kurds and helped fight against the Kurds enemies for the last decade or so. It’s not the US ‘s responsibility to indefinitely provide protection to the Kurds from all its other enemies.

@Spooky Trump has warned that he was going to take troops out of Syria for over a year now. There should be no surprise here.. it was up to the Kurds to find alternate partners .. the United Nations should also had at least a year to come up with a peace keeping force to fill the void created by the US leaving

@Spooky Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, Bernie Sanders , Robert DeNiro and many others of that generation were conscientious objectors during the Very unpopular Vietnam war and were considered hero’s to the left in those days.

@Spooky different eras. The chance of a foot soldier dying in the jungles of Vietnam is significantly higher than the prince coming anywhere near danger in Afghanistan
