  1. The fires are very bad, however Australia has a bushfire season every year. In 2009 black Saturday fires cost the lives of 180 people. In 1983 Ash Wednesday fires devastated communities. The problem is green tape has prevented a lot of hazard reduction by farmers and rural firefighters during the cooler months. Similarly prevention of grazing of livestock in National parks has left a a lot of fuel load on the ground. Now add a drought to the equation and idiots who light these fires and this is what you get.
