American Indians were enemies of the state , so if you are going to argue that we should not have the names of generals from a defeated enemy , then to be consistent you’d have to also argue that American Indian names should be removed as well..

  16. @Quince McCloud as far as the white man goes , at the time the land was not legally anyone’s so as far as they were concerned they weren’t taking the land legally. However m as far as the confederates go, the slaves were legally their property and they were fighting to stop people illegally taking their property. Now of course I’m agains slavery and racism , but I would like to see consistency in any argument

  24. @the irrepressible if you want to rename forts that were named after enemy names then you have to be consistent and therefore the question has to be asked ... why isn’t the same argument being applied to forts named after iconic American Indians or tribes? For example Fort Apache
