It is not up to the social media companies to police the new ban . It’s us up to the parents who will now be held accountable if the kids breach the law Edit : apparently I’m wrong . Parents Will not be held accountable . Instead the fines will be on the social media companies who of course will have no option but to force all of us to provide identification to use their platforms.

@falkdroste9895 apparently its not illegal. You or your kids will not be punished … only the social media companies will be fined …so guess what ? To avoid fines they wil force everyone to provide ID to verify their age.

@ it’s called accountability little fella. What’s next ? You’ll want car manufacturers held responsible for speeding tickets ? This law will just mean social media companies will force everyone to verify their age.

@ at the moment YouTube requires a Google account and only an email address . A lot of people don’t like providing their ID on line to sign up to anything so I suspect there will be a number of people who will delete their accounts and call it a day rather than share their personal information to enable age verification.

@carlasullivan4364 no asking for ID is not against the law, it just cannot be the only option available for age verification . It looks life biometric data such as facial recognition to estimate your age is probably the only other option available . Either way neither option is good

@drewtucker well then the law is even worse than I thought it was.

@dylanmurray9828 I don’t really care about bot accounts . I care about hearing people true feelings and in a world of cancel culture people are just not going say what they truly feel for fear of being cancelled and that will be a loss .

@ sorry , but parents should be doing a lot more to keep their kids of social media .. for instance don’t provide them with a smart phone and put a block or heavy restrictions on their internet access

@AverageJoe483 I’m sure the government has a hidden agenda here as they are giving the social media companies no option but to force users to provide identification to use their services . Now in a world of cancel culture where people lose their jobs for having the “wrong” opinion , it will mean there will be a lot less decent.
