@Water Champ it’s called science , it’s not possible for the Amazon to produce 20% of the earths oxygen in fact this level is much closer to 0%.

@Slique Vic I’m a physicist so I paid a lot of attention during science. Ecosystem ecologist have modelled how much of the earths oxygen is produced by the Amazon, and the numbers come down closer to 0% . Much of the oxygen produced is reabsorbed by the trees in a process called cellular respiration, also it is known that much of the oxygen we breath is a result of phytoplankton in the oceans.

@Slique Vic I’m all for preserving the Amazon and trees in general as they are good for the planet. However I deal in facts not fantasy and this myth that the Amazon forest is the “ lungs of the earth “ is just crap.

@Slique Vic climate cultist have been spreading the lie that 1/5 of the oxygen we breath is due to the Amazon . It is lies like this plus all the lies about catastrophic doom due to climate change that never come true that is driving people away from their movement. If they were honest and said the Amazon needs to be preserved because it is one of the wonders of the world then most people would go with that rather then support the preservation of the Amazon based on a lie.

@Slique Vic so what? Hawkins believed Trump pulling out of the Paris climate accord could put earth over the brink and become like Venus... however since trump pulled out the US have been leading the world in highest reduction in CO2 of any country.

@Slique Vic so how is that false? Hawkins predicted earth will become Venus after Trump pulled out in 2017. However thanks to trump supporting natural gas exploration which produces up to 60 % less Co2 emission than coal the US continues strongly towards natural gas power stations which is reducing CO2 emissions.

@Slique Vic firstly how does that sit with Hawkins prediction of Doom? Secondly Trumps policies are bringing back many manufacturing companies back to a clean energy environment of the US. These manufacturing plants were previously based in China and various other dirty energy economies. So in effect trump is reducing CO2 from other developing nations that the Paris climate accord allow to continue increase CO2 emissions by wrangling back those manufacturing plants to clean energy USA.
