@Kevin Montron did you consider 60000 people died from the flu in the US in 2017/18. Even though there is a vaccine ?
5
People need to learn to live with the virus . If you are under 44 there is a 0.2% of dying. If you are over 80 then that chance of dying goes up to 20%... so if you are elderly , don’t go to a bar.
3
Economic devastation and financial bankruptcy are just as dangerous to your health if not more than the risks of coronavirus
3
Kids dying from this virus is so low that it is statically zero
2
Did you ask the same thing of all the BLM rioters ?
2
Bankruptcy has lead to many suicides and death from alcohol and /or drug abuse.
2
I think the precedent has been set elsewhere and I think her group will win
2
@Dowobeha the death rate from Covid-19 for those under 44 is comparable to the death rate of the flu . So let those younger people live their lives whilst exercising good social distance and hygiene practices . Meanwhile, the elderly need to avoid young people like the plague.
2
@Ja B we are not talking 1918. We are talking 2020 where we have a vaccine for the flu and the fact is that Covid 19 is no more deadly to young people than the Flu. So why should we force young people into lockdown ? All we have to do to whether this pandemic is look after the elderly.
2
@Stan Lee remember when the experts were predicting 2.2 million deaths?
2
@Hoanglong Le a good time to kick those little leaches out of the house and force them to fend for themselves .
2
@Stan Lee well he did restrict travel from China, against all the advice from experts, the WHO and Democrats who called him Xenophobic. He did also make sure there was no shortage of ventilators, or ICU beds . Finally he has the testing levels raised to one of the highest rates in the world . Tell me what else do you want him to do?
2
@M. DeSanctis actually Covid 19 has multiple strains as well
2
@Mr Mullett Idiotboy, the Flu has a vaccine for it and still 60000 people died from it, yet we never lockdown for the Flu. Covid 19 doesn’t have a vaccine for it so the only option to enable us as a society to live with it is to protect the elderly and vulnerable from exposure. BTW less people will die of flu as a result of this new normal of social distancing and hygiene
2
@Richard Smith yeah! peaceful killing , rioting, looting , burning down buildings and tearing down of public monuments
1
@LA Lakers masks don’t guarantee you wont catch or spread the virus., however having said that I didn’t see too many rioters and looters wearing masks
1
@Doopy Loops are you saying there are no people who have lost everything and went bankrupt who have not committed suicide or have suffered from drug and alcohol abuse?
1
@GT Nismo it’s about constitutional rights . It’s like most people would think running with the bulls is a stupid risky business that costs lives , however , people have the right to make their own stupid decisions
1
@Doopy Loops there’s a big difference to having rules of conduct within a bar to completely stopping that bar from trading..
1
@GT Nismo this bar owner is fighting for the right to conduct business. She is quite willing to set up social distancing measures and she provides hand sanitizer. She is not fighting against wearing masks so I don’t know why you would bring that up.
1
@GT Nismo i give the running with bulls example as people choose their own level of exposure to danger. It’s the same as people going to a bar during coronavirus. I personally wouldn’t go to bar right now , but I’m not going to stop anyone else taking that risk.
1
@Stan Lee you underestimate how dangerous the flu is , for example people with heart disease can have their condition become a lot worse.
1
Stan Lee COVID-19 deaths have been trending downwards since April where the Peak was around 2700 deaths a day to about 500 a day now.
1
@Ja B What’s your point? A flu vaccine was developed around 1940 .
1
@Stan Lee so now you’re admitting trump must have done something positive to reduce the predicted deaths of 2.2 million to around 120 thousand .. what a great job trump is doing .
1
@Stan Lee the testing rates are calculated based on the number of tests per day per 1000 people. So it does provide an accurate comparison of the rate of testing of all countries who are testing.
1
@Stan Lee with regards to your rant most of it is about what he said rather than what he did and it’s what he did that counts. In terms of letting Americans who were in China back into the country , would you have rather he left US citizens in a virus hotspot in China?, In terms of disbanding the pandemic task force , a couple left on their own accord, whilst most of them continued doing the same job within another department. Now in terms of ventilators and ICU beds , not one person who needed either of these went without..
1
@Stan Lee as far as going to a bar.. I’ve got no problem with them being open is a safe manner and for people to make the choice to got there , however , I won’t be going to any large social gatherings right now.
1
@Stan Lee you do realise Trump is not in charge of the states. What he does is make sure his pandemic team advise and provide the necessary advice and equipment to deal with the virus in their states. He can also restrict travel from other countries as he did with China, Iran, South Korea and most of Europe.
1
@marcus milla I’m betting you don’t go around to your grandma’s place hugging and kissing her because you know how dangerous that could be to her .
1
So she’ll probably get mild flu symptoms for a few days, then recover and have immunity ( at least until the next strain comes around)
1
@Karen Aguilar did you say the same thing about the BLM rioters ?
1
@Eyehayt Apricots if you’re under 44 the mortality rate is 0.2%
1
@Gemini Tiger hospitals are handling the situation right now. The people who are catching the virus at the moment are 18 to 44 year olds who have a 0.2% of dying and generally don’t require hospitalisation.
1
@Gemini Tiger it is a fine balance. We cannot stay in lockdown and we cannot go overboard with opening everything up fully. This is the new normal for who knows how long.
1
That her whole point l That’s what freedom of choice is. People make their own choices
1
@FiZzZ people do murder other people and walk around naked ... so what’s your point?
