@memo Nava The elderly have to be isolated from the virus as generally have other illnesses and are likely to be hit hard by the virus. If this can be done and herd immunity is achieved , then the elderly can have a life again instead of hiding in their homes.

@Bharat Bardia how many lives are being lost through suicide because of lockdowns causing social anxiety and business closures? Or how about the deaths through alcohol and drug abuse due to the lockdowns? 80% of the deaths are in aged care homes, the key is to protect them and let the young healthy people go about their normal life whilst making sure they social distance and have good hygiene practices.

Herd immunity is just about allowing people to go about their daily lives whilst having minimal restrictions on crowd sizes and social distancing just to make sure hospital systems aren’t overloaded . A key part is to isolate the vulnerable such as the elderly during this process . As far as herd immunity for the flu goes, only 40% of people take up the vaccine and in 2019 the vaccine was only 29% effective , so that meant only about 12% of the population were effectively immune. So waiting for a vaccine for Covid-19 is not the answer, we need to learn to live with the vaccine

@memo Nava Ramirez you don’t need to be an expert to do research. I’m a physicist, so even though Virology is not my field of expertise , I do know how to research the studies and the data. Anyone can do it and I suggest rather than believe everything you hear on CNN, do your own research.

@B Bodziak Sweden openly admits that the problem with their approach was that they didn’t look after their elderly well enough. We could say the same about New York and Italy. However irrespective of the way they got there , it is pretty clear these areas have achieved herd immunity.

@Suzy Q firstly , I can’t deny that I’m a sexy little beast. It’s my curse and I have to live with it. I don’t really care about Republicans of Democrats , I am more concerned about conservatives values versus leftist values . I see Trump, not the Republican Party as the leader, the western world needs right now to halt this mad rush towards ending capitalism, defunding police, climate alarmism, gender fluidity and the rest. Trump is no angel, but an angel could not get the changes done that need to happen to make sure the left don’t take us over the cliff . Anyway in the meantime I’m just enjoying seeing Trump destroy a corrupt and biased media as well as take on the threat of China. I love his non interventionalist foreign policy and that he is getting out of endless wars.
