@Rahim Majid this is not a hard concept . The WHO report fatality rates on REPORTED Covid 19 cases. This logically implies that if there are more unreported cases of mild Covid 19 then the fatality rate would go down. The only way to get a better understanding of the fatality rate is to do more comprehensive testing on people to capture as many cases of people who are infected. This has been done the most extensively in South Korea where testing for the virus is at a rate of 2136 tests per million people as opposed to the US where testing is at 1 test per million people . This of course has resulted in South Korea detecting many more cases of mild Covid 19 . Guess what happened to their fatality rate? It went down to 0.6%

The fatality rate of 3.4% is way overestimated because many people who have milder cases are not going int hospital so aren’t included in the figures .if more comprehensive testing of people is done , we will pick up a lot more cases and the fatality rate will go down. Comprehensive testing has taken place in South Korea and this has detected a lot more milder cases and has brought the fatality rate down to 0.6%

@Tonya Sweeney the most important thing he could have done is reduce the risk of the virus entering the country and he did this with the travel ban from China, and now Italy and Iran noting that the WHO advised against this. He has assembled a team of appropriately qualified people and no doubt they they are doing whatever is required to get through this.

Well facts have met bunch in South Korea which is doing the most testing of people of all countries. This of course has picked up many milder cases of covid 19 and has brought the fatality rate down to 0.6% .

@cyanleopard covid 19 is not as efficient in transmission as the flu. So even if the fatality rate is higher than the Flu it is not as easily transmitted so the total number of infections will be less. Deaths from flu are estimated from 30000 to 60000 per year. coronavirus has killed 3000 in. 5 months.
