  4. Eric Vercruyssen I wouldn’t break the law and risk losing my children.. There is a legal way to seek asylum and be processed. When you try sneaking into a country then you have to accept the consequences if you get caught. These people were willing to risk having their kids separated.

  5. Waypoint don’t conflate separation of children from illegal entry versus genuine legal asylum claims presenting themselves at border crossings.. Those that present legally and seek asylum have not broken any laws and are not incarcerated and do not have their children separated. If there are cases of asylum seekers having their children separated, I’d like to see the case studies to see why this was the case. I think you will find a legitimate reason or authorities erred on the side of safety of the child

Waypoint I agree that the case of the Congo woman appears to have been mishandled and it was a mistake to seperate the child as that is not Homeland Securities policy, however that mistake is the exception and not the rule. With regards to illegal entry, this is considered a criminal offence and the parents are detained. The policy to enforce existing laws to not incarcerate children with their parents has been implemented not out of spite but as a deterrent to stop others from trying to enter illegally. Under Obama’s regime these people were processed under the “catch and release” program. This basically sent a message to others seeking illegal entry to just cross the border get released into America. Trump’s regime is sending a message to others seeking to gain illegal entry that they will be incarcerated and their children held in seperate locations is designed to deter illegal entry.. the simple solution : if you don’t want your children separated from you then apply for legal entry and wait your turn.

  7. 100% Real Woman this law has been in place for a decade and you clearly can’t recall when Obama used it to seperate children. These people know they were breaking the law and that Trump was toughening up on illegal immigrants. They new the risks of adverse consequences and now they are experiencing those consequences
