The only way to get herd immunity is through a vaccine or through young and healthy people catching the virus and developing immunity. In reality an effective vaccine may never happen, so if you are middle aged and older , have some co morbidities or are overweight then just avoid situations where you can come in contact with the virus at least until herd immunity through a vaccine or natural spread has occurred.

@jonathanjollimore7156 Sweden would have been the perfect model to follow if only they better protected their old peoples homes. If you look now , whilst the rest of Europe is going through a second wave and looking at locking down again, Sweden’s daily Covid deaths have been at zero since July.

@jonathanjollimore7156 The Culture of Freedom to be responsible for your own actions is too strong in the US. So I doubt the elderly will allow themselves to be locked away for their own safety . However , they also can’t afford to live in hope of an effective vaccine to save the US , so the US will have high deaths purely because people are willing to risk the virus to be able to live their lives the way they want to.

@jonathanjollimore7156 I think you put too much blame on one person even if he is the president. All 50 states have their own virus controls and many have implemented their own Covid initiatives such as lockdowns, mask mandates , etc. So Cuomo and Whitmer and the Governor of new Jersey can’t blame Trump for sending infected elderly patients back in to aged care facilities resulting in 1000s of deaths. If you want to blame individual state Governors then I would accept that , but blaming the president just doesn’t make sense .

@jonathanjollimore7156 Again, Trump doesn’t control how each state manages the virus . Every Governor is responsible for how they manage the states virus control....I don’t know what part of that statement you don’t understand.

@jonathanjollimore7156 I haven’t opened up any of your attachments as I don’t as a general rule . Why don’t you present your argument instead of just linking random videos or articles you’ve watched or read.

@ccccarriemchardy9216 OK , the daily death rate is not zero, but averages about 1 to 2 a day ...are you happy with that?
1
@ccccarriemchardy9216 No I acknowledge that Sweden do practice social distancing and hygiene but there is no mask mandate and they have not closed any businesses or junior schools . As far as Sweden’s daily death rates it has been 1 or 2 a day since July and there is no evidence that it is is going to rise.

@jonathanjollimore7156 I could post numerous articles of Swedes that are very happy with their approach. Have you actually a got an argument that you can articulate or are you just one on these people who just cuts and pastes random links

@jonathanjollimore7156 OK here’s one. These are all just opinions however, the proof is in the pudding in that Sweden’s daily death rate has flatlined at around 1 to 2 a day since July. https://www.deccanherald.com/opinion/panorama/no-lockdowns-but-sweden-seems-to-have-controlled-the-covid-19-pandemic-895509.html

@jonathanjollimore7156 as I said look at the data ... it is undeniable that Sweden’s daily deaths have flatlined since July. I have been following their ranking in deaths per million population and they were number 6 four weeks ago, dropped to number 14 two weeks later and are now at number 16 and dropping.

@jonathanjollimore7156 it’s obvious you were not there and if you’re going to rely on newspaper articles instead of studying the data , well then I can’t help you.
