Just about all the border that needs new wall currently has ineffectual wire fencing or vehicle barriers. The Dems are trying to deceive you by saying no new area of wall has been built when they know that just about all the area that needs new walls currently has ineffectual and dilapidated fencing that needs replacing.

The design is the same as previous but the height has been increased thanks to the analysis of the prototype concrete walls. You need to grasp that any new builds that replace existing fencing that are 18 to 30 foot steel bollard design IS the new wall. it will take time to put walls up in new areas that don’t even have a fence as the land has to be purchased and all the associated lawsuits with eminent domain need to be sorted out . So in the mean time funds are being put into building new wall where existing ineffectual fencing exist.

They also report a 90% reduction in illegal crossing where these type of walls have been implemented, so the experts disagree with you that walls don’t work. There’s no way you will stop those who really have the will and the means to get into the country. However the fact that it stops 90% of all others means that it will deter people from even trying...which is really what it is designed to do. Currently nearly 2000 people a day are being apprehended for illegal entry on the southern border ...now that is a crisis that is overwhelming border patrol agents and their infrastructure and they desperately want new walls built to help them do their job and protect the borders.

Secondly Schumer , Pelosi , Obama and many other democrats all supported the 4.1 billion dollar 2006 Secure Fences Act and now because Trump wants 5.7 billion for more steel bollard fences that the border patrol experts have requested they have obstructed his bill. This is not Trumps fault as border security has always been a bipartisan issue and Democrats would rather play political obstructionist games rather then allow Trump to get another win by securing the border.

Most of the border is ineffectual fence that will be replaced by new wall . The Dems will alway say that no new sections of walls are being built when they know full well that most of the wall being built will replace these ineffectual old fences.

  23. HENRY BUSH there’s enough resources available to address a leaking southern border and visa overstay simultaneously. A border barrier will stop 90% of people from entering illegally. It won’t stop the 10% who are able to climb over or tunnel under, but that’s OK for the time being as it will deter the other 90% from even trying These barriers have been requested by border patrol to help them fix a leaky border . It is just another tool at their disposable to help them do their job. They will also use drones and cameras and all sorts of other technologies to make their job easier.

W Crash There is about 700 miles of border fencing where a large percentage of it is useless and anyone climb over it and then you have areas of the border that don’t need any fencing, as the natural features make it near impossible to cross. You are being fooled by the Dems as they want you to believe that it’s not new wall if no work on any currently unfenced areas is yet to be started.. When you have crappy cyclone fences , useless vehicle barriers, old Vietnam helicopter landing pads and 3 strand wire fences being replaced by new 18 to 30 foot steel bollards walls then that is what the new wall is.... why would Trump start building walls in areas that are so infrequently trafficked that previous governments didn’t even bother putting up a useless fence when there are so many useless fences to replace in high trafficked areas?

  25. @donnyroses the wall will only be Around 600 miles long as there are many natural boundaries that are difficult to get past. Secondly it is designed to be a deterrent to slow people down long enough to be detected so that border patrol can get out there and do whatever they have to do to prevent ill entry. There are many other aspects to securing the border besides an effective physical barrier. Such as closing legal loopholes that encourage illegals to try and gain entry.

MrStonecold71 you really need to keep up.. the appropriations bill was for 234 miles of border wall ( 18 to 30 foot steel bollard design) that border patrol experts specified that they needed to be able to defend the border. It is not possible or necessary to have a 2000 mile border wall as natural barriers already exist that prevent illegals from crossing and Trump has adapted his wall plans based on expert advice. In terms of why this didn’t pass when when republicans had control of both houses is that this particular bill needed 60 votes in the senate to pass, not 51 . This meant that the Dems just obstructed and never allowed any funding to be approved. As far as Mexico paying for the wall. When Trump was elected he negotiated with Mexico to pay for the wall and they said No.. now they will lose billions in annual revenue when the new USMCA trade deal is passed ...so I think in retrospect they would have been much better off just paying a one off 5.7 billion dollars for the wall .
