Let’s see if Bernie’s crazy 32 trillion healthcare for all plan gets put up as a bill now that the Dems have control of the house.

Retrograde Beats why so? Pelosi could put Bernie’s plan up for a vote in the house.

E Clouston universal healthcare usually means a poor quality service and very long waiting periods for treatment. Governments should provide a very basic safety net for those citizens who can’t afford healthcare. Those that want a more comprehensive health care with their choice of doctors and with minimal waiting periods should get private health insurance.

gregory boulware GDP growth of over 3% pays for tax cuts.. the last 2 quarters were 4.2% and 3.5% respectively. In other words the tax cuts are more than paying for themselves

Aaron Vallejo World health organisation suggests that 56% of those seeking treatment in Canada have to wait 4 weeks or more... however I guess your anecdotal evidence about your mother in law carries more weight

Steven Lee which country are you in?

gregory boulware and so how do you explain the jump in growth in GDP?

Jenny Sleabi-Lyons Australia and Canada spend about $5000 per capita and they are ranked 32 and 30 by the WHO...if you want universal healthcare then in terms of costs Singapore which spends around $2000 per capital and is ranked 6 by the WHO is probably the model worth considering.

E Clouston the cost you pay is that it cost the government 11% of Canada’s GDP , that means you pay for it in other ways such as higher taxes. By the way I’m not opposed to universal healthcare as long as the government doesn’t fund it all... I’m opposed to Bernie Sanders ridiculous healthcare plan.

Arshan Mostafavi Where do you think the funding for that 32 trillion healthcare will come from you idiot? It will be payed for be paid for by increased taxes.. Bernie’s model is far more comprehensive in coverage then other countries universal healthcare which on average make up around 10% of GDP.. If Bernie’s model is used it will nearly be around 18% of GDP...There is nothing wrong with universal healthcare if it is affordable and acts as a safety net... Bernie’s plan will end up by all citizens paying a helluva lot more tax.

the bub, I don’t disagree with universal healthcare and I too have supported my comments with data from the World Health Organisation.. My point is that Bernie’s plan is ridiculously expensive and that it is nearly double the cost per capita of most other countries that have universal healthcare...I’d suggest a more cost effective model such as that of Singapore where it is ranked 6 by the WHO and cost 5% cost per capita ie nearly a quarter the cost of Bernie’s plan.
