Could the whole thing be pre-planed Sting Operation by Erdogan's side? It appears similar to the plan used in Hitler assignation attempt? (Suspected Military officers were told Hitler was dead, even if they hadn't thought it was a good idea before, put coup plans into action). Erdogan left holiday hotel, then it was bombed. Turkey had jets ready to shoot down 'ringleaders' helicopter. Appearing gleeful, Erdogan had hero mobile phone plan expertly executed. Tanks where put in stupid place, easy to be overrun, or clean targets on bridge

+Begum Hostan Thanks for the information! Turkish man I know here says Erdogan is terrible but the opposition is split into many small parties with a system that makes sure they don't get elected. The parliamentary threshold of 10% means a party needs to gain more than 10% of the vote nationwide, meaning that parties may win the most votes in certain areas but not win any MPs due to a low result overall. E.g. in the 2002 general election the AKP won 34.28% of the vote but won nearly two-thirds of the seats.
